Will Write For Coffee

The San Diego Coffee Network is currently seeking interns. We need 2 summer interns to grow our content and coverage in San Diego. Interns will receive a FREE monthly coffee subscription through the SD Coffee Club, a FREE coffee mug. A letter of recommendation at the close of the internship on October 31, 2014. This is a great way to break into content creation and writing for the specialty, or craft coffee industry.

Requirements:

  • An excellent command of the English language, specifically the written word.

  • Ability to meet deadlines while working independently (manages time well)

  • Proficient in Social Media like Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram

  • Proficient in Google Drive (or can learn quickly)

  • Tech Savvy (You have a working smartphone, iPad, Galaxy Tab, laptop, etc. and you know how to use them)

  • Either a background as a Barista, or an interest in learning about specialty coffee and writing about it

  • A digital Camera (phone shots do not translate well for Blog Posts)

  • Ability to produce 1 Blog post a week (500 words) with 2-4 accompanying photos

  • Credits will be given on our Blog for authorship and on event recaps written for major industry magazines.

  • Reliable Transportation

Required Learning:

Interns must audit a SDCN Bar Basics and Latte Art Class and attend a cupping at Bird Rock Coffee, Cafe Virtuoso, Cafe Moto, or InterAmerican Coffee asap. These are all FREE, but may require RSVPs.

Required Attendance:

Barring the loss of life or limb, the following events and dates require your undivided attention (6pm-9:30pm). Recaps will be written for Industry Magazines:

Thursday, Aug 21 - Lofty Coffee Co., Encinitas

Thursday, Sept 18 - Cafe Virtuoso, East Village

Thursday, Oct 23 (Season 2 Finale) - Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, Little Italy
